Biden “Ukraine Has Second Chance With Orange Revolution”
US Vice President Joe Biden visited Kiev to have meetings with the new Ukrainian administration.
US Vice President, Joe Biden, paid a visit to Kiev on 21 April and had meetings with the Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and Vice President, Alexander Turçinov regarding the Ukrainian crisis. Some Russian critics commented Biden’s visit as a symbolical one, representing America’s support. Biden emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and warned Russia to stay loyal to the decisions that were made in Geneva, Switzerland last week.
Biden claimed that Ukraine had a second chance with the Orange Revolution and stated: “We are ready to help the Ukrainian leaders establish a united Ukraine.” He also pointed out that the upcoming presidential elections, which, as he put it, would be the most important one in Ukrainian history.

US Foreign Affairs Minister, John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, allegedly had an argument on the phone because of the clashes in Ukraine on Sunday. According to a statement from the Kremlin Palace, Lavrov asked Kerry to prevent some aggressive groups from provoking violent clashes. Washington, on the other hand, stated that Kerry asked from Lavrov to call the protesters to retreat from buildings and checkpoints.
Meanwhile, Lavrov stated that the USA and Kiev have endangered the Geneva Convention. “Kiev seniors and the USA and Europe, which brought them into power, blame the Russian Federation, instead of seeking a solution for the problem. They claim that the evidence of Russia’s involvement in the clashes in Kiev is the Russian arms in the field. Those accusations are completely false because there have never been other arms there. There are only Russian weapons there, which is not breaking news.”
