Hamas and Fatah Join for National Union
Al-Mayadeen Tv reports that the Hamas and Fatah organizations are collaborating to form a united government.
Al-Mayadeen TV announced that progress has been achieved in national reconciliation talks held in Gaza between delegations from the Hamas and Fatah organizations. It declared further that the two delegations had reached an agreement on the creating a government based upon principles of merit.
The news of al-Mayadeen TV shed light on the recent talks, stating that the two sides had met in Gaza to discuss issues such as elections, the government which they aim to set up, and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO).
The talks at the house of the prime minister of the Gaza government, İsmail Haniyeh, were attended by a group representing the PLO and leaders of Hamas, with local media announcing that the discussions progressed with a positive atmosphere and that serious progress was made in all subjects discussed.
Al-Mayadeen TV gave details of the government which the two sides agreed on setting up. It stated that it would be based on principles of merit and will be founded within five days. It declared that this was the most important development which came out of the talks.
