Turkish Forces in Syria
Prime Minister Erdoğan confirmed that Turkish forces have entered Syria in order to send aid to the Tomb of Suleyman Shah, which is the only Turkish territory outside Turkish borders.
Prime Minister Erdoğan attended the ceremony of 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day at the Prime Ministry. While there, he partly confirmed the ISIL’s Twitter news of the Turkish forces stepping into Syria. Erdoğan stated that six tanks and 12 armoured vehicles with hundreds of soldiers were sent to the Tomb of Suleyman Shah in Syria, which is the only Turkish territory outside the borders. ISIL started to send some troops to the tomb which is 200 metres away from the emplacement of the terrorists.
Erdoğan went on to say: “The problem is not ISIL. The only aim of the convoy is to bring some aid to the Tomb of Suleyman Shah. Those who are responsible [for the convoy] are taking care of this.” However, he did not clarify whether or not the Turkish convoy would be advancing in the regions under the control of Syrian government or ISIL.
