US on Lookout for Escape Route in Ukraine
The USA is facing defeat in Ukraine, and has been forced to explore unlikely options to try to salvage something from the situation.
First the CIA Director John Brennan visited Ukraine, then US Vice President Joe Biden…
Both of them were in search of a way out after the move to break Ukraine away from the East…
According to the New York Times, President Barack Obama even hopes to attract China to his front in order to isolate Russia!
USA count on China
So, is it possible that China will operate alongside the USA in order to isolate Russia? The response of the Russian officials is clear: for example, the Russian Duma Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, Alexei Pushkov, describes the USA’s strategy to try to push China away from Russia as not only erroneous but also idiotic.
Alexander Larin of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Far Eastern Studies Institute described the USA’s hope to use China against Russia as a stone age idea, and made the following analysis: “The notion of using China to deter Russia is nonsensical. Russia and China are strategic partners … It is pointless to think that China would participate in efforts to deter Russia, and above all to suppose they could be used as a means to this end. China is one of the world’s two greatest states. It would be impossible to use China, which follows an independent foreign policy, as a tool. Its diplomacy is extremely intelligent.”
Sergei Mikheev, the vice president of the Russian Centre for Political Technologies, has also described the USA’s idea as nonsense. We wish to share this important analysis of Mikheev’s on the subject: “There are truly tight economic relations between the USA and China. But the Chinese know well the reality of the USA’s approach to China. The USA sees China as its main rivals in the 21st century. Their shift of military doctrine to base it in the Pacific region a short time ago was not without reason. This shows how the USA has set deterrence of the Chinese as a priority. Any other steps they take are nothing more than an attempt to mask their efforts in this direction. That’s one point, the second is this: If China loses Russia as a strategic partner, it will be left on its own against the USA. Beijing will not make an error on this subject.”
Suggestions of Kissinger and Brzezinski
Clearly the USA will not be able to make use of China!
So, what will they do? For they wished to take Ukraine, but managed first to drive Crimea to annexation by Russia and are now seeing signs that Eastern Ukraine will follow the same way…
The famous US strategist Henry Kissinger contests in his Washington Posts piece entitled “How the Ukraine crisis ends” that, in short, Ukraine may become a member of economic and political organisations, but it should never be accepted as a member of NATO.
So Kissinger sees Ukraine’s neutrality as a way out for now The famous US strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski advocates a similar idea.
However, Brzezinski is one figure who had for long years claimed that the USA’s domination of Eurasia lay through Ukraine. This is why his article in the Washington Post contains the notion of applying pressure on Russia from two wings of Ukraine: From the Romania - Poland line below and the Baltic states from the North.
Flanking pressure insufficient to stop Russia
For the USA, the Poland-Romania flank means the Black Sea, and we see that here Washington has been pressuring Ankara not to strongly stand by the Montreux convention.
We see that the USA has gone into motion in the Baltic region this week.
First the Pentagon stated that 600 US soldiers would be sent to the Baltic countries bordering Russia. Then the Arian Minderhoud of NATO Maritime Command announced that five NATO ships had set off from the German port of Kiel to conduct a drill in the Baltic Sea.
So, will the pressure from these flanks be enough to cause Russia to take a step back in Ukraine?
Russia saw the moment that the West took the reins in Ukraine it would be on the back foot in its own region, and for this reason it is fighting back resolutely.
Thus, the USA, having been forced to open a new front in Ukraine to avoid loss in Syria, is now obliged to open another new front to avoid defeat in Ukraine!
